European identity – in the eyes of Kierkegaard
May 5th 2013 the father of existentialism, Søren Kierkegaard, would have turned 200. In Brussels his birthday is celebrated with an inspiring conference on the European identity – seen through the eyes of Kierkegaard.
Kierkegaard was throughout his life preoccupied with thoughts on the human condition and the question “Who am I?”. His work makes an interesting contribution to the current – and crisis-oriented - debate on Europe and European identity.
A range of experts on Kierkegaard and Europe will unfold this contribution on a conference May 14th. The conference will be open for everyone.
The panel of experts
The moderator of the conference, Dr. Stine Jensen, has been chosen as one of the most promising, young philosophers of the Netherlands. Furthermore she can call herself a writer, a columnist and a TV-host. As is the case for her philosophy TV-programme, Therefore I am, the rest of her work also pivots on identity.
So will be the case for Safet Bektovic who has a Ph.D in Kierkegaard. Based on his expertise on cultural encounters and identity, the associated professor from Oslo University will talk about the two levels of identity: the existential and the cultural.
Working as spokeswoman of the European Commission and having spent 21 years of her life in Brussels, Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, will provide the discussion with both professional and personal insights on what it means to be a European in practice.
Last but not least, is the young and promising philosopher, Alicja Anna Gescinska, Ph.D. and lecturer from the University of Gent. She will base her contribution on the relation between fear and freedom in developing identity.

I. PHILOSOPHIE SECONDE DE KIERKEGAARD

Ecriture et répétition
Laura Llevadot
Traduit de l'espagnol par Stéphanie Apollo
Ouverture Philosophique
PHILOSOPHIE
